Gujarati will often refer to dal-bhat-rotli-saak as their everyday meal. Their staple food includes homemade khichdi and buttermilk or pickle as a side. Gujarati people mostly prefer to have spicy food rather than the sweet one. GARBA is a form of dance which originated in the state of Gujarat. Traditionally it is performed during the NAVRATRI, which is the most important festival of Gujarati's. Both men and women wear colorful clothes during performing GARBA.
Every year Gujarat celebrates more than 200 festivals among which THE INTERNATIONAL KITE FESTIVAL is regarded as one of the biggest festivals celebrated. This festival marks harvest season and is celebrated every year in the month of January.
RATH YATRA is another awaited festival of Gujarat people. These celebrations are held once a year. This festival is celebrated every year in the month of June or July. there will be held a procession of the lord with the chariot through the various corners of the city.
The other important festival of Gujarati people is VAUTHU MELA-animal trade festival of Gujarat. This is the most spiritual festival of Gujarati people. In this festival, people decorate their camels and donkeys with jewelry and also color them. This festival is celebrated on full moon day of Kartika month of Hindu calendar. This festival is celebrated for five days.
