ECONOMY OF STATE
In the year 2017 Gujarat stood in 3rd place in GDP ranking. If Gujarat is an independent nation, its economic rank would be higher than the many developed countries in Europe. Major economy of the state is affected by the Industrial sector. Among the total GDP produced 19% is produced by agriculture, 45% by industry and 36% by the service sector.
INDUSTRIES
The major industries include cement, Agro and food processing, pharmaceutical, textile, and petrol etc. Gujarat stands in 1st place in the pharmaceutical industry, and in second place in gas-based thermal electricity generation from India. The unemployment rate in Gujarat as per 2017 is 1.2.
AGRICULTURE
Major agricultural products of the state include cotton, groundnuts, dates, sugar cane, milk, and milk products. Gujarat ranks first in India in the annual production of tobacco. Tobacco is concentrated in Kheda and Vadodara. Cotton is grown in Gujarat plain where rainfall is between 60 to 100 cm.
SERVICE SECTOR
The service sector includes Community, social and personal services, Financial, Banking, Real estate, and Bussiness services. It also includes Trade, Hotels, Transport communication, Electricity, Gas and Water supply, MANUFACTURING, Quarrying, Agriculture, and Fishing.
